Family-style dining is a mealtime approach encouraged by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) that allows children to serve themselves from shared bowls and pitchers with adult guidance. This practice helps children develop independence, motor skills, decision-making abilities, and healthy eating habits while creating a positive social dining experience. During training, participants will learn CACFP family-style dining requirements, proper food service and sanitation practices, strategies for encouraging children to try new foods, and techniques for promoting respectful mealtime conversations in a supportive environment.
